Lady Gaga Apologizes To Fans For Frenzy Over Fur Coats

She refers to her fans as “little monsters,” but after repeatedly wearing fur following her public denouncement of it, the term may be applicable to the superstar herself.

Always controversial, Lady Gaga has been spotted recently wearing fur, drawing ire from PETA and animal-loving fans alike. Many assumed the furs were real and some assumed the pelts were faux. Rather than clarify, when asked about the furs, the singer defiantly responded, “For those press and such who are writing about whether or not my fur is actually real, please don’t forget to credit the designer Hermes. Thank you!” Her callous response prompted PETA to suggest a flour-bombing a la Kim Kardashian was in her future.

Gaga has finally addressed the controversy, which she dubs ‘Furgate,’ on her website, writing, “To the fans. I want you to know that I care deeply about your feelings and views, and I will always support your philosophies about life…I do not however support violent, abusive, and childish campaigns for any cause. Particularly one that I respect. Animal Rights.”

“I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real because I would think it hypercritical (hypocritical) not to acknowledge the python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, ‘kermit’ and not to mention meat, that I have already worn. This should already put me in a category as one who appreciates and adores the beauty of animals in fashion, but am not a strict vegan. I have truly always stayed away from skinned fur, especially (sic) I have never been able to afford a nice one, but this does not mean my morals are rigid and that I won’t bend at the sight of an absolute art piece of a coat.”

“I have no chains about this. You see a carcass, I see a museum piece de resistance. But I am truly sorry to fans who are upset by this, it’s a fair and applaudable feeling about the health and safety of animals. I respect your views, please respect mine.”

For a woman devoted to social justice and philanthropy, Gaga’s views on fur are shockingly archaic–almost as much so as wearing the skins of innocent, tortured animals in the name of “fashion.”

Lady Gaga Opens Up About Challenging Year

Lady Gaga has opened up about her tumultuous year as she struggled to come to terms with criticism of her hit track Born This Way, disagreements with her record label, body image issues, and betrayal by "lifelong friends".

The Poker Face singer has written an open letter to fans detailing the problems she has faced over the last 12 months, revealing she fell out with record company executives over her choices of singles, and had bust-ups with video directors who didn't share her artistic vision.

She also comments on the fallout over her track Born This Way after she was accused of copying the melody from Madonna's Express Yourself, with the Material Girl even combining the two tracks while performing on her current tour.

In a post on her Littlemonsters.com website, Gaga writes, "Today is a really happy day for me. The past year was a challenge, and I'm so happy to have my spirit back. I felt in chains at times. Whether is (sic) be the record label disagreeing with me on single choices, or directors who could only create an idea of 'Gaga' or what I've 'done before' and (were) not able to move forward, and there was also of course the incessant dragging of the most important single of my career in dead-beaten-horse-mud."

Gaga also reveals she has endured traumatic personal problems, telling fans she has been "betrayed" by friends and colleagues and tortured over her looks, but she insists she has now "removed" those people from her life and moved on.

She adds, "There were all the personal moments. Betrayed by lifelong friends, mentors I've had for years suddenly taking advantage of me, and a massive struggles (sic) with my body image. I've grown and left most of these things behind, the monsters of fame are very real. But I wanted to thank you for baring with me a little bit... I am feeling blessed to have removed those from my life driven by money and luxury, it's all about the art of it. I feel free today. Thank you for always being there for me monsters. I love you."

Lady Gaga blasted by PETA over fur outfits

Pop sensation Lady Gaga has come under fire from PETA after she was spotted wearing what looked like real fur outfits in several occasions.

The 26-year-old singer once said that she would never wear fur because she hated it, reported Ace Showbiz.

PETA senior VP, Dan Mathews, pointed out three outfits GaGa wore - a Michael Kors fur she donned in London last year, a hot-pink Giorgio Armani fur coat she had last week and a wolf carcass she rocked in the poster of her movie "Machete Kills".

He questioned the 'Poker Face' hitmaker, "What happened? Are your stylists telling you that it's fake, or are you a turncoat?

"But by wearing those dumb furs in a heat wave, you're making yourself a target just like the mindless Kim Kardashian. As we plan our fall campaigns, please tell us whether what you gracefully told Ellen was heartfelt or just a pose."

In response to the question, Gaga tweeted, "For those press and such who are writing about whether or not my fur is actually real. Please don't forget to credit the designer HERMES. Thank You! LOVE, gaga."

She stepped out in Bulgaria wearing a Hermes fur coat while holding a puppy in her arm.
