Lady Gaga Apologizes To Fans For Frenzy Over Fur Coats

She refers to her fans as “little monsters,” but after repeatedly wearing fur following her public denouncement of it, the term may be applicable to the superstar herself.

Always controversial, Lady Gaga has been spotted recently wearing fur, drawing ire from PETA and animal-loving fans alike. Many assumed the furs were real and some assumed the pelts were faux. Rather than clarify, when asked about the furs, the singer defiantly responded, “For those press and such who are writing about whether or not my fur is actually real, please don’t forget to credit the designer Hermes. Thank you!” Her callous response prompted PETA to suggest a flour-bombing a la Kim Kardashian was in her future.

Gaga has finally addressed the controversy, which she dubs ‘Furgate,’ on her website, writing, “To the fans. I want you to know that I care deeply about your feelings and views, and I will always support your philosophies about life…I do not however support violent, abusive, and childish campaigns for any cause. Particularly one that I respect. Animal Rights.”

“I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real because I would think it hypercritical (hypocritical) not to acknowledge the python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, ‘kermit’ and not to mention meat, that I have already worn. This should already put me in a category as one who appreciates and adores the beauty of animals in fashion, but am not a strict vegan. I have truly always stayed away from skinned fur, especially (sic) I have never been able to afford a nice one, but this does not mean my morals are rigid and that I won’t bend at the sight of an absolute art piece of a coat.”

“I have no chains about this. You see a carcass, I see a museum piece de resistance. But I am truly sorry to fans who are upset by this, it’s a fair and applaudable feeling about the health and safety of animals. I respect your views, please respect mine.”

For a woman devoted to social justice and philanthropy, Gaga’s views on fur are shockingly archaic–almost as much so as wearing the skins of innocent, tortured animals in the name of “fashion.”

Lady Gaga Opens Up About Challenging Year

Lady Gaga has opened up about her tumultuous year as she struggled to come to terms with criticism of her hit track Born This Way, disagreements with her record label, body image issues, and betrayal by "lifelong friends".

The Poker Face singer has written an open letter to fans detailing the problems she has faced over the last 12 months, revealing she fell out with record company executives over her choices of singles, and had bust-ups with video directors who didn't share her artistic vision.

She also comments on the fallout over her track Born This Way after she was accused of copying the melody from Madonna's Express Yourself, with the Material Girl even combining the two tracks while performing on her current tour.

In a post on her Littlemonsters.com website, Gaga writes, "Today is a really happy day for me. The past year was a challenge, and I'm so happy to have my spirit back. I felt in chains at times. Whether is (sic) be the record label disagreeing with me on single choices, or directors who could only create an idea of 'Gaga' or what I've 'done before' and (were) not able to move forward, and there was also of course the incessant dragging of the most important single of my career in dead-beaten-horse-mud."

Gaga also reveals she has endured traumatic personal problems, telling fans she has been "betrayed" by friends and colleagues and tortured over her looks, but she insists she has now "removed" those people from her life and moved on.

She adds, "There were all the personal moments. Betrayed by lifelong friends, mentors I've had for years suddenly taking advantage of me, and a massive struggles (sic) with my body image. I've grown and left most of these things behind, the monsters of fame are very real. But I wanted to thank you for baring with me a little bit... I am feeling blessed to have removed those from my life driven by money and luxury, it's all about the art of it. I feel free today. Thank you for always being there for me monsters. I love you."

Lady Gaga blasted by PETA over fur outfits

Pop sensation Lady Gaga has come under fire from PETA after she was spotted wearing what looked like real fur outfits in several occasions.

The 26-year-old singer once said that she would never wear fur because she hated it, reported Ace Showbiz.

PETA senior VP, Dan Mathews, pointed out three outfits GaGa wore - a Michael Kors fur she donned in London last year, a hot-pink Giorgio Armani fur coat she had last week and a wolf carcass she rocked in the poster of her movie "Machete Kills".

He questioned the 'Poker Face' hitmaker, "What happened? Are your stylists telling you that it's fake, or are you a turncoat?

"But by wearing those dumb furs in a heat wave, you're making yourself a target just like the mindless Kim Kardashian. As we plan our fall campaigns, please tell us whether what you gracefully told Ellen was heartfelt or just a pose."

In response to the question, Gaga tweeted, "For those press and such who are writing about whether or not my fur is actually real. Please don't forget to credit the designer HERMES. Thank You! LOVE, gaga."

She stepped out in Bulgaria wearing a Hermes fur coat while holding a puppy in her arm.

The title of the album has been revealed as 'ARTPOP' (Gaga loves capital letters!) and inside sources have stated that appearing in the music vid will give LiLo's career the boost it so desperately needs to get her back in the spotlight:

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney celebrated their first anniversary with a dinner of oysters and caviar.

The 'Born This Way' singer and the 'Vampire Diaries' hunk went for a meal at Chicago restaurant Spiaggia on Sunday to mark the special date.

Lady Gaga Confirms New Album Title 'Artpop'

Lady Gaga : Artpop , sound good? The star confirmed the title of her new album on her Twitter this week to solidify anticipation since June when Gaga told her fans that she would be revealing all about the new album in September. This is a little earlier, though we can expect more news in the forthcoming days and weeks, with current new live track 'Princess Die' expected to feature on the track list.

Reuters reports that Gaga posted a photo of her wrist, with the album title tattooed onto it, adding the caption "new ink new album". She followed that up on Sunday with the Twitter update "my new album/project Artpop".

With Gaga apparently getting on with business, it's been left to Elton John to step into her place to defend her against the constant attacks of bitter ageing pop queen Madonna. In a furious rant on Australian TV, Elton vented, "Why is she such a nightmare?" adding "Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger c***." He wasn't done there either, continuing "If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to go and prove... she looks like a f****** fairground stripper. She's been horrible to Gaga." Go Elt!

Lady Gaga Previews New Single

Lady Gaga previewed her new single to fans by blasting it from her car in a New York parking garage.

Lady Gaga previewed her new single to fans by blasting it from her SUV.

The 'Alejandro' hitmaker is currently working on her new album and although she hasn't given a release date she decided to treat her Little Monsters to a taste of what they can expect when she played the new single loudly from the vehicle in a parking garage.

One fan wrote on twitter: ''I asked her if it was the new single she looked at me and shook her head yes and said shhhhh.''

According to Gaga's fans, the as yet untitled song is ''a very heavy dance/club song''.

Another person tweeted: ''YOU GUYS THE SONG WAS F--KING PERFECT. IT WAS A VERY HEAVY DANCE/CLUB SONG!!! THE BEAT WAS F***iNG INSANE!!! (sic)''

Meanwhile, Madonna recently made another jibe at Lady Gaga.

The 'Celebration' singer claimed she is a big fan of the younger pop star's track 'Born This Way' - which has previously been compared with her hit 'Express Yourself' - because she ''helped to write'' the song.

She said on Brazilian TV: ''I'm a really big fan of ['Born This Way']. I'm glad that I helped Gaga write it.''

Madonna - who has performed a mash-up of 'Born This Way' and 'Express Yourself' during her 'MDNA' gigs - has previously claimed Gaga copied her track.

Doll Manufacturer Sues Lady Gaga For $10 Million

Bosses of a toy company licensed to make a doll of Lady Gaga have filed a lawsuit against the star.

The Bad Romance hit-maker and her management and licensing companies are being sued for $10 million by executives at MGA Entertainment for an alleged breach of contract, according to the New York Daily News.

It is claimed Gaga requested the removal of a voice sound chip from the doll which put the company under pressure to meet their deadline for retailers.

Company bosses had hoped to ship the figure to shops in time for Christmas but they allege the singer and her team "engaged in intentional and deliberate delays" to stop the toy reaching shelves until 2013, so it coincides with the release of her new album and perfume.

Chiefs at MGA Entertainment paid Gaga's licensing company Bravado International Group a $1 million advance but they are now petitioning to release the doll as soon as possible.

A spokesman for the pop star tells the New York Daily News, "Lady Gaga will vigorously defend MGA's ill-conceived lawsuit and is confident that she will prevail... There was no legitimate reason for dragging Lady Gaga into that dispute."

Lady Gaga's drive-by album preview

Lady Gaga treated some of her fans to a sneak preview of her new album - after she blasted it out of the windows of her car.

The Poker Face singer's SUV was surrounded in New York by a crowd of fans - who she affectionately terms Little Monsters - when she wound down the window and played a short clip from a previously unheard dance track before driving off, MTV.com reports.

Gaga's fans took to Twitter to rave about the song and an almost inaudible video of the incident has been posted online.

One Little Monster tweeted: "Just met Gaga! She was playing a song from her new album! It was a very heavy dance/club song! The beat was f***ing insane!"

Another fan claimed: "I asked her if it was the new single she looked at me and shook her head yes and said shhhhh."

It has been speculated that Gaga's new album will be completely dance-based.

She said recently: "Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity. And I feel that on the next album there's a lack of maturity - it's a tremendous lack of maturity or sense of responsibility."

Lady Gaga Is ‘Obsessed’ With No Doubt’s ‘Settle Down’

While some fans may not be feeling No Doubt’s new dancehall-influenced single ‘Settle Down,’ which dropped on Monday, they have a huge fan in Lady Gaga. A few weeks ago, Gaga tweeted her excitement about the band’s return to making music after a decade-long hiatus. Now, Gaga has tweeted her love for the song, insisting that it’s not a plug for Interscope, the label both the Mother Monster and No Doubt are signed to.

Ma Monster and No Doubt frontlady Gwen Stefani have so much in common, so we can understand why Gaga would gravitate to the song so magnetically. Both are fearless fashionistas. They are both platinum blondes. And both have Italian roots. We love that Gaga is feeling the song, since we are too. Her feelings towards the tune are so strong that she even declared that anyone who disagrees is wrong. You tell ‘em, Gaga.

While some of our readers commented that the song is “banal” and “mediocre,” we can’t shake it from our heads. Neither can Gaga, and she knows a thing or two or a several million about good pop songs. So if you’ve dismissed the song, give it another listen.

Lady Gaga Building Home In Greece

Lady Gaga is building a home in Greece that will appear to float in the sea.

The property, reportedly costing £10million, is being built in Crete where the 'Born This Way' star bought land last year.

Sources told the Daily Star newspaper: ''It's going to be absolutely phenomenal when she's finished with it.''

The 26-year-old singer - who as a child attended the same Catholic school in New York which Suri Cruise has been enrolled into - is also planning to have a palace and a church on the European land.

The insider continued: ''It's right on the water and appears to be floating, so anyone wanting a gander will only be able to see it if they go by boat.''

''Besides the palace and church, the project will also include a tennis court and two pools.''

The source added: ''It has ended up costing over £10m for the whole development and that's only so far. Extra costs are sure to mount up.''

In 2010 it was rumored she was considering getting married on the Greek island with her boyfriend at the time, Luc Carl.

Lady Gaga’s scent of Fame

Lady Gaga has unveiled the eagerly anticipated campaign for her new fragrance Lady Gaga Fame, with the black-and-white ad featuring tiny men crawling all over her naked body.

The songstress took to Twitter July 16 to reveal the ad, which was also showcased on her social network littlemonsters.com.

Shot by esteemed US photographer Steven Klein, known for his work with pop stars including Britney Spears and Madonna, the ad sees Gaga wearing a black mask and reclining on her side, with what appear to be metal action figures adorning her body.

The star had been anxious in anticipation of the big reveal, taking to Twitter to express her nerves.

“I won’t lie I’m a bit nervous. its been a while since I’ve shared some work with you. But i’m so proud of Steven+I, we really did not sleep!,” she wrote. It is expected that the campaign will begin running in magazines this September.

Earlier this month Gaga disclosed more details about her debut scent via Twitter, telling her followers there will be two versions of the Fame fragrance, an “affordable” small bottle and a larger version dubbed “Le Masterpiece.”

The smaller edition of her upcoming edition will be priced at around $30 (R240), while the premier edition of the fragrance will retail for more than $70.

The perfume is set to arrive in stores this September and has been described as the “first ever black eau de parfum.” Although black in the bottle, it sprays clear and becomes invisible once airborne.

Although it had previously been reported that the singer’s debut perfume would make reference to the odours of blood and sperm, it has since been described as one of “floral and fruity elements.” – Relaxnews

Gaga encouraged her 27 million followers to check out the tune, writing, "@nodoubt single 'Settle Down' is out. I just bought it! Go get it its (sic) so good! Band formed the year i was born! 1986 baby."

Her message was spotted by Stefani and she took a moment to show her appreciation to the pop superstar, real name Stefani Germanotta, replying, "wow gaga muffin thanks for the shout out that's big! Kiss from one Stefani to another!"

Lady Gaga Sing-A-Long Disrupts Guests At Chateau Marmont

A hush fell upon West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont restaurant on Tuesday night when Lady Gaga entered the usually bustling venue; although once the high-society clientele soon resumed their conversations they were stopped again, this time by a chorus of singing.

The singing, as reported by People magazine, was coming from behind a thick hedge that walled in the restaurant thanks to a rather large group of fans who had camped out in a bid to get a glimpse of their musical hero. As Gaga emerged from the bathroom, she and her three male compatriots - believed to have been her bodyguard crew -approached where the lyrics of 'Edge of Glory' were been sung, but was unable to have herself heard above the loud chorus. Never one to give up at the first glimpse of adversity, Gaga then pried open the bushes and stuck her head through, a source told the magazine, before saying; "guys, it's Gaga," with the crowd exploding with cheers at the revelation.

The source goes on to say that she chatted with the fans for a few minutes while sticking her head through the bush, telling them she loved them and appreciated the support, but to please stop singing so the other people inside could eat in peace. The fans obliged to do so, with Gaga returning to her drink at the bar with an awaiting female friend.

Lady Gaga Wraps 'Born This Way Ball' Australian Leg After Dining Out In Perth

Lady Gaga wowed in daring dress over the weekend whille dining out with members of her 'Born This Way Ball' world tour during their stay in Perth, Australia.

The 'Marry The Night' singer arrived in Perth early last week ready for the final two nights of her Australian tour leg, and was pictured heading out for dinner at Japanese restaurant Nobu in the Crown Perth Hotel on Thursday last week (5th July).

Lady Gaga stepped out wearing a skin baring black gown paired with black boots and dark shades, just days before her final Australian show at the Burswood Dome last night (8th June).

The outfit boasted a plunging neckline right down to the 'You & I' singer's waist, as well as cutaway sides that showed off some of her tattoos.

Gaga unveiled the first image of her premiere edition perfume Le Masterpiece Fame over the weekend, several weeks after revealing pictures of the standard edition of her first fragrance.

The 'Born This Way Ball' world tour is set to resume next month (14th August) at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Lady Gaga Lacks 'Maturity' On Next Album

Lady Gaga is slowly but surely revealing to fans what her next album will sound like. And she claims she isn't looking to sound more grown-up anytime soon.

During a concert stop in Perth, Australia, over the weekend, Gaga revealed some details about what the album, her follow-up to 2011's Born This Way, will sound like. Before launching into her new track "Princess Die," which may appear on the new album, she teased her Little Monsters a bit about the highly anticipated album release.

"It's not about you, it's about me. This whole thing is about me," she joked about "Princess Die" in footage posted on Press Party. "Oh, the vanity of a singer. So I wrote this song and in a way it has a bit to do with the rest of the album ... well, I'm not gonna say anything.

"Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity," she said. "And I feel that, on the next album, there's a lack of maturity, it's a tremendous lack of maturity or sense of responsibility."

In addition to the new song and those minute details, Gaga shared with her fans that she will announce her album's title in September. It's an album title she's actually had in mind for a very long while, sharing with MTV News back in December that she had already had picked it out.

"I've started writing it and I have the name for it and all the concepts are beginning to flourish and take place," she said. "I'm excited to put it out, but it's not done yet. So I'll put it out when it's done."

While Gaga is currently on her world tour, she is cooking up tracks for her new album's release while on the road. "I get a little bit of anxiety thinking about that right now. I wanna just always try to outdo ourselves, our songs. They're already incredible songs. But I feel like she's so young," her longtime producer Fernando Garibay said late last year, adding that at the time, the record was in its early stages and that "there's a lot of room to grow."

"The last record we made in bus stops and hotel rooms," he said. "Wherever she's at, we'll make it."

Lady GaGa Greets Aussie Fans In Cleavage Baring Navy Frock

Lady GaGa stepped out in her glam gladrags today when she arrived at the Crown Metropol in Perth for the last leg of her Australian tour.

The eccentric 'Poker Face' songstress is best known for her eccentric fashion sense and love for raunchy and flesh baring outfits, and didn’t disappoint today when she sported a navy satin dress that showed off her ample cleavage.

And GaGa managed to combine elegance and sexiness in the sophisticated navy number featuring black velvet panelling and bead detailing with a high neck.

The cut-out chest section only seemed necessary to give the ensemble a break from all the material, but it certainly showed off her best assets.

The 'Born This Way' singer teamed the look with her trademark platform lace-up heel boots and round specs, wearing an unusual wig of ginger and blonde curls as a bun.

And Ms GaGa thought she’d summer up the dark outfit with a slick of bubblegum lipstick to keep things on trend.

The singer looked pleased to greet her Australian fans for one of the last times and certainly wowed them with her GaGa style. We bet they were impressed!

Lady Gaga Boosts $392 Million Fashion, Contemporary-Art Sales

Lady Gaga was among the buyers during a week of contemporary art and fashion auctions in London that raised more than 250 million pounds ($392 million).

The U.S. singer was represented in the room at Christie’s International’s June 27 charity sale of fashion items belonging to the model and designer Daphne Guinness. The auction house confirmed that Gaga was a buyer, though it wouldn’t specify which, or how many, items she bought.

The 102-lot evening sale was held to establish a foundation in memory of Guinness’s friend, Isabella Blow, the fashion editor credited with discovering Alexander McQueen. The event raised 476,800 pounds, more than four times the estimate.

“Having taken an auction away from Christie’s, I decided to give them another in its place,” Guinness said at the presale preview.

Blow died on May 6, 2007. Her wardrobe, including the clothes McQueen created for his college graduation, had been scheduled to be auctioned by Christie’s in September 2010. Guinness bought her friend’s collection before the sale with the long-term intention of putting it on public display.

An Alexander McQueen ivory silk tulle empire-line gown was among the items Guinness offered in its place. Dating from the fall/winter of 2008-2009, it sold for 85,250 pounds, a record for the designer at auction. Lady Gaga’s management hasn’t commented on reports that she bought the gown.

The top price of the evening was 133,250 pounds given by a telephone bidder for Mario Testino photograph of Guinness published in the March 2008 edition of U.K. Vogue magazine.
Basquiat Painting

The night after Christie’s sale, Phillips de Pury & Co. offered a 1981 painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat, a friend of Blow’s when she worked at Vogue in New York during the early 1980s.

Estimated at 6 million pounds to 8 million pounds, the acrylic and oilstick “Irony of Negro Policeman” was the most highly-valued work in Phillips’s 28-lot auction of contemporary artworks. It fell to a telephone bidder for 8.2 million pounds with fees, having been sold privately earlier in the year for about $8 million, dealers said.

A 1984 acrylic-on-canvas of Olympic rings and heads painted by Basquiat and Andy Warhol fetched a further 6.8 million pounds with fees.

Another version of this collaboration, prompted by the 23rd Olympiad in Los Angeles, is currently on show at Gagosian in Davies Street in the Mayfair district of London.
Selling Rate

Phillips’s sale raised 23.4 million pounds with fees against an estimate of 15.1 million pounds to 21.2 million pounds, based on hammer prices. The evening’s selling rate of 86 percent was similar to those at the equivalent contemporary-art auctions held by Sotheby’s and Christie’s on June 26 and June 27 respectively.

Christie’s 132.8 million-pound offering was the most valuable contemporary-art auction held in Europe, surpassing the 108.8 million pounds raised by Sotheby’s from a mixed-owner sale combined with the Durkheim Collection in London in June 2011.

“The trophies are more expensive than ever,” the London- based art adviser Wendy Goldsmith said in an interview. “Works in the range of $200,000 to $600,000 are more difficult. People like bankers don’t have the same levels of disposable income, and the feel-good factor isn’t there any more.”

Sotheby’s (BID) (BID) and Christie’s day sales of contemporary works on June 27 and June 28 raised 13.8 million pounds and 15.5 million pounds respectively. Sotheby’s found buyers for 69 percent of its lots. The corresponding Part II London auctions in June 2008, at the height of the last art market boom, took 26.8 million pounds and 22.4 million pounds.

“Fatigue is another factor,” Goldsmith said. “We’ve just had art fairs in New York, Hong Kong and Basel. We’ve never had quite so much of a run-up to these auctions.”

Lady Gaga Wins Alexander Mcqueen Dress At Auction

Lady GaGa reportedly paid the highest ever price for an Alexander Mcqueen design at a charity auction by bidding over the telephone.

Lady GaGa reportedly paid the highest ever price for an Alexander Mcqueen design.

Fashion icon Daphne Guinness put a huge collection of her haute couture wardrobe up for bidding at Christie's in London, including several items by the late designer.

The 'Born This Way' singer, who was a big fan of the couturier's work, gave the charity auction a boost by outbidding rivals to buy a dress.

She allegedly spent a record-breaking $136,400 via her telephone bids.

The star is now the proud owner of a 2008 ivory silk gown, called 'The Girl Who Lived In The Tree', according to Britain's Associated Press.

Socialite Daphne sent out a special thank you message to Lady GaGa for her huge purchase.

Daphne said: ''I'm overwhelmed by how many bidders took part ... and I'm particularly moved by Lady GaGa's support for the foundation. I like her very much, and it's lovely to see the nascent beginnings of something that may help other people.''

The auction raised $747,200 for the Isabella Blow Foundation, set up in memory of the late fashion guru.

Lady Gaga Causes Controversy With New Song About Princess Diana

Lady Gaga has caused controversy with a new song about Princess Diana's death.

Lady Gaga has come under fire for her new song about Princess Diana's death.

The 'Bad Romance' star premiered new track 'Princess Die' in Melbourne, Australia and outraged royal fans with her risque lyrics, which appear to reference the Princess of Wales' tragic death in a Paris car accident in 1997.

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, sings: ''And wish that I would go / In my rich boyfriend's limo / Right after he proposed / With a 16-carat stone wrapped in rose gold / With the papparazzi all swarming around /So bob head your head for another dead blonde.''

Diana was fatally injured in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, while in a car with her lover Dodi Fayed, and it is rumoured that the Harrods businessman had recently proposed to her.

The 26-year-old singer's lyrics have been blasted as distasteful, but the singer is no stranger to controversy, having caused outrage by performing in a wheelchair and wearing religious garb in the past.

The singer also says in the song: ''I wish that I could cope but I took pills and left a note.''

Suicide charities in Australia have slammed the singer's words and are worried about the message she is sending to impressionable fans.

Chris Wagner, communications director for Lifeline, said: ''We understand artistic license and we get artistic expression, but celebrities need to recognise that they're role models for young people in the community.''

'Princess Die' is likely to be released included on Gaga's next album.

Lady Gaga New Song "Princess Die" Does Not Promote Suicide

Lady Gaga debuted her latest song, “Princess Die,” at a concert in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday night. The ballad features the singer on the piano belting lyrics about suicide, relationship problems, and eating disorders.

The music industry queen has stirred up controversy once again. Critics say the song not only uses Princess Diana’s name cheaply, but also takes a bleak look at suicide that may send the wrong message to her fans.

Playing on “Princess Di,” the song title explicitly references Diana, Princess of Wales, who famously died in a car crash as her limo driver was escaping the paparazzi in 1997. In fact, the song sounds totally based on the late princess’ life - “I’m hungry from an anorexic heart” hints at Diana’s advocacy for eating disorder awareness; “I wanna see who cries” and “I wanna watch her cry” calls attention to the viewer, to the worldwide audience who watched Diana constantly; “With the paparazzi all swarming ‘round/In my white Louis Vuitton button-down” speaks to the crazed paparazzi chase that caused her limo driver to speed dangerously; and finally, “so bob for another dead blonde/whose real prince is in heaven” seems like a clear reference to the flaxen-haired Diana and her unhappy relationship with Prince Charles.

Even if these lyrics are not actually about Diana, the allusion serves two purposes. It paints the pop queen as a tragic, royal victim and the Welsh princess as a tortured person with complex desires, thoughts, and confessions. Whether Gaga’s portrayal of Diana is accurate is besides the point -- the media portrayal of her as a passive victim of fate has made us forget that she was a complex, actual human being. Gaga’s song at least reminds us to reconsider how we remember Diana.

The real controversy, however, is over the suicidal lyrics. By saying “I wish that I could cope/But I took pills and left a note,” and “bleach out all the dark I’ve swallowed,” she details methods of suicide and explictly resigns from life. As Gaga’s “Born This Way” gay rights anthem inspired an audience of LGBT young people at a time when teen suicide and bullying made the headlines, some worry that “Princess Die” will send the wrong message to her young fans who may be suffering from depression or suicidal thoughts.

I won’t protest her topic of choice - I have no idea if her song will influence teenage behavior - but I take issue with her source of unhappiness and characterization of suicide. While in other songs the speaker complains about being too famous or unhappy despite her riches, this time she’s upset about her love interest. Maybe she has self-esteem issues that go beyond her prince problems - she was “never very smart,” has anorexia, craves attention, needs some rest, and feels generally powerless. But the lyrics also contain skewed views about romance that exist everywhere in our culture. First, she expects her “real prince” to be in Heaven, metaphorically or literally betting the next guy will meet her idealized vision and give her happiness. I’m no relationship expert, but I know that no person will meet Heavenly expectations or be the key to happiness. Even worse, “I’ll be a Princess Die and die with you” portrays suicide as a romantic experience shared with her lover. As Alvy Singer in Annie Hall says about readers of poet Sylvia Plath, “tragic suicide was misinterpreted as romantic by the college girl mentality” -- and this cheap, one-dimensional romanticization is exactly what Gaga is capitalizing on.

I’m glad Gaga tackled a tough, real-life issue of unhappiness and suicide in a sugar-high music industry, and she sounds great musically. But she draws on destructive views that make her message weak, derivative, and most of all misleading. Even if her song doesn’t influence vulnerable listeners, its assumptions about “romance” promote self-deprecation and glorify death.

Lady Gaga Bought Tons Of Stuff At The Daphne Guinness Auction

Earlier this month, Daphne Guinness announced that she would auction off pieces from her extensive wardrobe to raise funds for The Isabella Blow Foundation. Last night at Christie’s in London, Guinness did just that — and sold all 102 lots for nearly $600,000.

It was believed Guinness’s items would sell for about $125,000 total, the Daily Telegraph reports. That’s nothing, considering that those lots contained gowns from Alexander McQueen and Christian Lacroix and photographs by Mario Testino. The night’s biggest lot was a portrait of Guinness lensed by Testino for British Vogue in 2008, which fetched around $166,000.

LADY GAGA SETTLES JAPAN LAWSUIT WITH DONATION

Pop star LADY GAGA is to settle a multi-million pound lawsuit by making a donation to victims of the Japan earthquake/tsunami disaster.

The Poker Face hitmaker was hit with a 3.1 million lawsuit last year (Jun11) over allegations she profited from the sale of charity wristbands she designed to raise money after the 2011 tragedy.

The class action suit, filed by a Michigan law firm, accused the singer of overcharging fans and making money through shipping costs for the £3 'We Pray For Japan' bracelets.

However, documents filed at a U.S. District Court on Monday (25Jun12) show both sides have reached a mutual conclusion, with Gaga agreeing to give £67,000 to a charity benefiting those affected by the tragedy.

Under terms of the settlement, Gaga and her co-defendants also deny the suit has any merit, reports The Detroit News.

Court records show Gaga raised at least £938,000 with her wristband fundraiser.

Lady Gaga: Sydney Harbor Boating Babe

She’s been having a blast in the land down under, and earlier today (June 25) Lady Gaga was spotted making her rounds in Sydney Harbor, Australia.

The “Just Dance” diva took a stroll down the wharf where she boarded a boat for a cruise around the picturesque waterfront.

And it looks like Gaga even used her celebrity clout to score a seat behind the wheel of the sea vessel, as the skipper taught her how to navigate the boat.

All the while, Lady Gaga attracted plenty of attention with an off-the shoulder cream colored top with white leggings and super-high-heels and sunglasses.

Gaga is in Sydney for four concerts as part of her worldwide Born This Way Ball Tour.

Lady Gaga-Inspired Costume Worn By School Principal

A Boston public school principal showed up in school on Tuesday wearing an eye-catching Lady Gaga costume and prepared to milk a cow. This is to show to his students that “promises are not made to be broken.”

Justin Vernon, the principal of Roger Clap Innovation School in Dorchester, Mass., challenged his 170 students in kindergarten through fifth grade last October to read a combined 10,000 books by the end of the academic year. The students wanted something in return, though.

To check students accountable for their home reading claims, teachers had them fill out logs for their parents to sign. Kenny Jervis, whose son Nigel is in kindergarten and daughter Sofia is in third grade at Clap, said his children “really took the challenge to heart,” even competing among themselves.

By June, Nigel had read 200 books, including three from C. S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series, and Sofia reached 150 books. Nigel and Sofia’s reading “really blossomed” over the course of the challenge, he said.

First-grade teacher Tim Apple said the school’s weekly town-hall meetings, at which each grade touted its book tally and a field trip to an IMAX theater to witness an underwater documentary celebrated 5,000-book milestone, helped keep students motivated. But Apple said the promise of seeing their principal dressed as Lady Gaga was a key factor driving students to read.

“Students were always asking ‘Is he really going to do it?’” Apple said.

Their curiosity was answered Tuesday morning when a tall figure in heels, snug black tights and a black dress emerged from a black limousine outside Clap. Adorned with a tiara, necklace, oversized sunglasses and lots of makeup, Vernon made his way toward a cow in the middle of an athletic field behind the school.

Students, some accompanied by parents, swarmed around their glamorously dressed principal and chanted “Milk the cow!” “Milk the cow!” until Vernon, pulling back his long blonde wig, knelt down and did what he promised. All these were met by rounds of applause and cheers. Now, that’s what we call a Teacher!

Source;http://empowerednews.net/lady-gaga-inspired-costume-worn-by-school-principal/1824976/
“They [challenged] me, saying ‘If we’re going to have to read all these books to meet our goal, you’ve got to do something for us,” Vernon said. “Somehow I got stuck with dressing up as Lady Gaga and milking a cow.”

The students exceeded their goal by 3,000 books, averaging more than 75 books per student, Vernon said. Books read for class and read aloud to parents counted toward the total.

Lady Gaga Is Like A '200lb Toddler' Says Manager

She may be one of the biggest stars in the world but Lady Gaga's manager thinks that the singer hasn't fully 'made it' yet. Troy Carter compared the star to a "200lb toddler" and refused to accept that she has become a full blown superstar yet.

Discussing her current record deal, Carter told Billboard: "We have I think three records left with Universal [Interscope].

"There may be a [record label] system there by the time her deal's up that looks more attractive." The music mogal also discussed Gaga's recent cancelled stadium show in Jakarta, Indonesia earlier this month."

"It's less about GaGa than it really is what's happening in the world right now as a whole," he explained. This is a microcosm. It's a generational divide. Jesus Christ got crucified. It happens."

Carter also added: "Asia is a very loyal audience and an audience that really, really loves music... it's not a passive audience at all... we plan on spending a lot more time here."

Lady GaGa is currently on the Australian leg her 'Born This Way Ball' world tour, which sees the star perform some of her biggest hits including 'Born This Way' and 'Bad Romance'.

The 'Fame Monster' singer announced her European tour dates earlier this year and has since added two additional UK shows after overwhelming demand from fans.

Lady Gaga Slammed For 'Piling On Pounds' On Born This Way Ball Tour

Just a few weeks ago sources claimed that Lady Gaga's friends and family were worried about her because she 'wasn't eating', but it looks as though the star is back to full health as she performed on stage in Sydney earlier this week, showing that she had gained a little bit of weight.

But the pictures, some of which were taken at an unflattering angle seem to exaggerate Lady Gaga's size.

In full costume, Lady Gaga shows a bit of a muffin-top (we'd know all about that unfortunately), and her legs seem to have taken on a more muscular shape - no doubt from all of her hardcore exercises.

But the singer has been accused of wearing costumes that are now too small for her, and looking 'pinched at the sides'.

Some readers on the MailOnline, have said that the 'Paparazzi' singer looks "horrible", "such a mess", while another adds: "..tight underwear, rubber and plastic, stilt-heeled footwear, itchy feathers and lace, huge heavy hair and headgear, layer upon layer of greasy make-up etc. etc - everything she wears looks completely uncomfortable!"

Lady Gaga shows off dildo gifted by fans

Lady Gaga's fans just outdid her in sexual innuendos. They gave her some rather interesting gifts, including a dildo, a locked book and much more. The video below shows Gaga opening the various gifts, and receiving a loud applause every time she made a remark.

On seeing the racy gift she got,Gaga quipped, "Are you telling me I'm not getting enough action?" The remark was received loud applause from the fans who couldn't stop cheering. Amidst the din, Gaga thanked her fans 'for worrying so much about my sex life', adding that all was well in it!

As her crew changed her outfit while she was onstage, Gaga then opened what looked like a book, only to find that it actually a box filled with loving letters from fans. On discovering it was locked, she called her fans 'crafty' for thinking of the idea.

There were tons of come-hither looks for fans, Gaga asked if her fans were interested in coming backstage.

After reading out a letter from the box, Gaga promptly tossed the dildo at the book-creator as a Thank you! She then directed her attention at a Barbie doll with blue hair, whose neck she dismantled, rather ruthlessly, before tossing both the head and the body of the doll at the crowds.

Finally, Gaga donned a Born This Way jacket made by a fan before walking off the stage.
